with about 3inchs of lift would you need to get longer shocks or would the stock shocks be ok?

LONGER SHOCKS!!!!!!! You might not need them right away, but it`s better if you do.
a cheap an esa way, if you dont have de mula,like me,lol, you could use zj shocks on the rear and yj on front, just have to adapt them.

Great attitude.
IMO you need to get the shocks. The answer is YES. Even when doing a Budget Boost you really should get new shocks. Im pretty confident that no one on this board is going to say that stock shocks are ok for a true 3 inches of lift. I think it would be driveable but it wont be a good ride and you will have practically ZERO downtravel.
If you dont have the money for shocks then wait on the lift until you do.

I would say buy new shocks now. If you don't now you will later. Something will have to give sooner or later if you wheel with the stockers. Plus, It'll be a good time to repace them while you got it apart for the lift.
