Clearing codes

I gone through most of the post, but can't exactly find the correct answer to, "what is the best way to clear codes on a 97 XJ?" I just want to start out fresh and see if the codes I just found were from before I replaced the battery or after.

you need a scan tool and someone who knows how to use it to clear. Disconnecting the battery will not do it.

I had autozone clear my codes using a scan tool for free...
