Been thinking of make an upgrade to full size axles, I have an 86 xj 4 cyl and the 4 spd. I would like to put full size axles under it. And do a 4.0 swap. the motor swap does not bother me I done one before. But I was wondering what axles I should go with. I know that Dodge has a close set up to the cherokees. any ideas. would be helpful.

Depends on what size tires you want to run and how much money you have. Anything between Dana 44s, Unimogs, and rockwells. Let every one know a little more about what your trying to do. By the way, someone will tell you to search. Wait for it.

the easiest axle swap is the HPD44 front and 9" rear from a late 70s Ford F150. it will be very difficult to fit a 4.0 in the engine bay of an 86 because they had to enlarge the engine bay in 87 with the introduction of the 4.0. do a search for TONS more info on both those subjects.

that is the reason that i felt i knew enough to pick out my front axle - which lead to the rear axle from the same vehicle (so i dindt have to re-gear and change lug patterns at the same time so i could run stock shafts till $$$ comes)
