tranny problem

just put a new clutch, throw out bearing, pilot bearing and preasure plate and still have a screeching noise from the transimission when i shift gears this did this before i did the clutch but it did it when it was in nuetral as well any clues?

gear oil change?

yes chaged the gear oil and the t-case oil

An '87? How many miles on the vehicle, and are you the first owner?

It may be that the tranny needs a nice shiny set of new bearings.

it has around 217000 on the motor but i bought the tranny a while back i am not sure how many miles on the tranny

Since it also makes noise in neutral, it could be from the front mainshaft bearing......? It's relatively easy to change, but you'll have to remove the trans again.
