Oil filter substitute?

Does anyone know of any reason NOT to substitute the stock-size oil filter (Napa 1085) with the identical-but-slightly-longer Ford-type filter (Napa 1515, motocraft FL-1a)???
Threads, gasket, body diameter are all the same, but the body is slightly longer = more oil capacity and more filter element.

Many do it here.Just be careful at oil changes that you don,t let the canister fall and short on the starter terminals.

No reason why not - as long as you've got a 91-up XJ with the 7.8" thread (1987-1990 has M20x1.5)

Don't forget to account for the extra pint of oil - you can probably get away with running a total of seven quarts (the extra half-quart will be in the pan and raise the level slightly) but I've not done enough measuring to check this theory - anyone?)

5-90
