when choosing shock lengths, its best to just measure. find the ones that have the correct extended/compressed lengths to net you the most travel for YOUR setup
If you don't extend the bump stops, when the suspension compresses the shocks will be fully compressed ("bottomed out") long before the suspension stops moving. This will destroy the shock absorbers very quickly.
For what it's worth (as a bit of useless info), in Connecticut it is illegal to modify a suspension in such a way as to allow the shocks to top out or bottom out.
