How to fit a ZJ gas skid to my 97+ XJ

I just bid on one on ebay... I know there's some drilling involved.

It is just take the thing, hold it up there, see where I need to drill, do it, then bolt it on?

I did this myself and posted this a short while back. I put a skid plate from a 95' GC on my 2001 Cherokee Limited. I already had the factory hitch. Just line up the hole and drill. Make sure it is centered front and back. The passenger side had that 45 degree bend just as the 97' + cherokees do. Gidder done!
