Can someone pls measure their rear cherokee leaf springs and pls tell me:

Overall Length from eye to eye following the arch of spring:

Overall Length from eye to eye (not following spring arch):

Length from centering pin to front eye bushing:

Lenght from centering pin to rear eye bushing:

How many leafs are in the spring pack:

Spring Rate:

Stock or aftermarket?

If aftermarket, how much lift do you get from the springs?

Thanks for the help! :)

I am several thousand miles away from my XJs at the moment so I can't measure for you, but I'm pretty sure that these measurements have been posted previously. Have you tried searching? Probably in the Mod Tech forum, and I'm going to guess at least 4 months ago.

I think Eagle is talking about the time he gave me these specs:
4 leaves

Old XJ stock spring (year and mileage unknown):
Eye-to-eye = 49-1/2"
Front (eye to pin) = 23-1/4"
Rear (eye to pin) = 29"
Arch (eye centerline to top of leaf at pin) = 6"

New Up Country spring:
Eye-to-eye = 49"
Front (eye to pin) = 23-1/4"
Rear (eye to pin) = 29"
Arch (eye centerline to top of leaf at pin) = 6-3/4"

Aftermarket springs give different lifts ranging from 1" to 9" and beyond.
I don't have specs on the spring rates.

Should they be different?

???????

You're joking, right?

That's like asking if the diameter of a circle should be different from the circumference.

Thanks a ton for the measurements!!!! I needed them because I want to run rear XJ springs SOA in the rear of my YJ to stretch the wheelbase out. But, it seems that I have to get these springs custom made because I want them stock height (trying to keep the COG low) and the military wrap. I need the measurements to give to the spring company.

I haven't decided who to use yet...been reading alot on your board and it seems that people are overall most satisfied with Alcans. I may set up the YJ with a set of used XJ springs until I get the $ to get the Alcan's. If the Alcan's are too expensive, I may settle with a flexy 1" spring with military wrap instead.

Any recommendations on springs or comapnies? I've had great luck with the RE springs SUA.

Do you remember if these measurements were taken while the springs were on the Jeep or off? Thanks again!!!!!!

of course I was joking, but mine are dead straight. I have a new set on
the way so I'll get you some uninstalled measurements in a day or so.
(I assume the spring maker needs the uninstalled numbers)

Yes, thank you sooooo much!!!!

I've been reading about the XJ springs and one guy said that the Up Country Pkg included +1 inch springs. Is this true? I'm thinking to run a set of these in the rear to get a little lift out of the SOA.

Off. One of each set sitting on the garage floor, beside each other.

Yes, this is true, due to a stiffer spring rate.

In the vehicle, or out of the vehicle?

The XJ has the spring OVER the axle. The spring is designed to set basically flat with the vehicle at rest and at normal curb weight. Do not make the mistake of assuming that your springs are toast because they don't have the same arch as springs that run UNDER the axle. To determine if your springs have sagged (and how much) you MUST measure.
