can anyone tell me if the fenders, front clip (the section with the grill headlights ect) and the bumper from a '88 will fit a '93 (both are XJ's)?

Yes, they will.
The '93 header panel and grille is different, in that the trim strip across the top of the grille becomes integrated with the grille rather than a separate piece as on the '88. So you need to swap the header and grille together, along with the headlight bezels, but the entire nose clip will interchange.

as to how the bolts coming through the fender attach to the panel itself. Either way you can tap out the old mounting studs and make it work.
