Instrument cluster swap

Can the individual components of the cluster be swapped ( ie. my speedo into another cluster to keep the mileage correct)?

Depends on whether or not the years match up. From 1984 thru early 1987 they used one type of speedo cable connection. From mid'87 thru 1990 they used a differnt speedo cable connection. And after 1990 the speedos were electronic -- no cable at all.
