What's the easiest way to tell if I have a 35 or 8.25 rear axle on my 92 XJ?

I've looked at pictures, but they look very similar.....

thanks!

flat looking bottom= 8.25
More round/oblong shape=35

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the 8.25 only comes w/ a rubber drain plug as opposed to the actual threaded plug that you need to use a socket wrench to undo in the 35's and 30's. Thats a pretty easy thing to spot

The ñater D35s have a rubber plug, too.

By flat bottom, it's not the cover that's referred to but the housing. The D35 housing is oval on the bottom, following the profile of the oval cover. The 8.25 has an oval cover, but the bottom of the housing has a very pronounced flat "bar" about 6" long below the bottom edge of the cover flange.
