how to make front diff cable disconnect

I've found many discussions telling to switch to a cable and get rid of the vacumn. The vacumn motor is undependable at best. I see many problems and I just got my 86 cherokee. What I need is HOW to do this. Help, before I set fire to this damn thing.

I found that just using the search button the other day.

I got mine permantly locked with a hose clamp in the shift motor I can get pics if you want.
