Cooling Question

What should a 1989 Jeep Cherokee temp be running at? Mine runs at about 160/170. I thought that was a bit low. Is that OK or should it be higher? I just changed the thermostat tonight and burped her. Still running at 160/170.

The guage on my 88 will usually indicate 160-170 when warm. I'll watch the temp climb up to just under 210 after a cold start, and watch it fall to approximately 165-170 when the themostat opens up. Stays right around that mark afterwards.

I think the temp guage is probably just inaccurate. It is extremely cheaply made and 16 years old. The new therm you installed won't let it run that cool, so I wouldn't worry about it.
