Was trying to wire up the M8K and am having some difficulty. There are three wires and three post on the motor. One is red the other two black. I know where the red wire goes It is still marked. However, the two black wire's are no longer marked. Who has this wich and would be willing to open the selanoid pack and tell me which wire goes where? Or who is such a winch guru they know it off the top of there head....???? :wierd:

Anyone? Anythoughts?

I suspect that one will be the armature probably the red one, the other two the field windings, you must also have a ground point as well.
So for one the motor to go in one direction starting at the battery the power route would be battery to one terminal of the field winding then out the other winding on to the red wire terminal, out the ground and back to battery -ve. to reverse the motor swap the field winding connections round
How you relate that to the solenoid pack is anybodys guess.

Take a look at http://www.redhummer.com/myhummer/service/warnwinch/a5.gif

or look at page 13 of http://www.roverworld.com/Downloads/X9manual.pdf
That's a wiring diagram of a Superwinch motor solenoid pack but is probably similar. Short of that email Warn and ask them.

Hope that helps
Pete

I just took the cover off mine. If you are looking at the winch with the fairlead face you as you would to pull line. The stud on the left goes to the vert. bar closest to the spool diagonal from the red lead. The stud on the right in the back goes to the hort. bar in the front. The stud on the right in the front goes to the hort. bar in the back.

Is that a Warn M8K? My selanoid pack is similar but not on the winch. You also have more wires on yours than mine. Hmmmm. The ground for my winch is on the motor housing. Looks like your ground is in the pack. AM I right?

It is a m8000. The solenoid is not on the winch. It is a bracket for the multi-mount. The ground is on the bottom stud. Try this out should have all the info you need.

Ok guys thanks for the responses. I called and E-mail warn and this is what I have found out. Ther are two different selanoid packs with 2 different wireing hook ups. Hows that for confusing?! Apparently the only wire that is consistant is the A wire. It is the Black wire in the pack that is attached to the top right selanoid and is attached to the outside of the selanoid. The red wire in one pack goes to F1, however if you have the other pack it goes to F2! :wierd:  :scared: Why cant things just be simple? So I got both diagrams and used the one that best matched the inside of my pack. Hooked it up and wound the rope in. As I was finishing up I noticed smoke at one of the post! :flamemad: :dunno: :tears: I believe it was nothing more than oil or something on the post..... I will be callling Warn yet again today to see what they say. I think it is wired right bc it goes in the direction its supose to when you hit the in button. However, if it is reversed wouldnt it just run the opposit it is supose to? It would not mess up the motor would it? I mean we reverse polarity on electric motors all the time....
