transfer case drop

i have heard that a piece of rectangular tubing (1 x 2 x 1/8) is used for a spacer to make a transfer case drop, but I have 1 x 2 solid stock, is there anything bad about using solid stock for my drop??

It's a pain to drill. Kinda heavy. Otherwise no problem.

I used 1x2" steel stock (solid) on my YJ to drop the t-case. No problems. Now have 6061 aluminum stock in 1x2" for the XJ t-case and have had no problems. Easier to drill holes in aluminum and it doesn't rust, too.
