overhead counsel turns on slow

quick questions about my overhead in my 91. when i start the rig sometimes it takes several minutes for the display of temp and compass to turn on. at other times if the dispaly comes on right away, the temp reads -90 or -whatever degrees for a bit and then reads accurate. i haven't pulled it down to clean the contacts yet but was wondering if i should also check any other things while i have apart.

My `92 does the same thing, I haven't bothered to track it down yet.

The electrons in your over head are now 14 years old, at that age they sometimes get confused about where they are supposed to go and what they must do when they get there.
