case change?

I just got done changing the ring and pinnion in my rear 8.25. On the front dana30 I had to get a case change for the 4:56. I had a friend tell me that the front is going to be harder than the 8.25 was. Why? and if so how much harder? My rear end is running good, with the correct gear pattern, but I had to add shims 3 times, And it was a pain.
I'm just deciding if I want to do it myself or if I need to pay for help.

The carrier bearings are adjusted with shims, so you may have to pull the carrier a few more times, but for the most part, it's the same idea as the 8.25.
