Hey Beach Bone it is sweet. Looks a lot like my sons. He just traded his fullsize Bronco for it. Next week he is adding a Rough Country 3" and adding 3/4 inch spacers and my old 1" shackles. Doing it himself too in auto-tech class. 16 and already hooked. I think he was actually hooked in 1999.

Here is pic of him in 99 in my Jeep and one presently. It's a Jeep thing !

it's an 87 limited, RE 4.5" kit with a 3/4" spacer on the coils sits about level at 5.5" with 300# of tools/spares in the rear. 33x12.50x15 GY MT/Rs "factory grooved", D30 open diff/ 27 spline 8.25 rear with detroit and 4.56s, stock 4.0L and NP-242 with well over 250K miles... it flexes awesome especially on the highway off ramps (no swaybars) and roof rack from a 97 adapted so i can use the Mopar tire carrier on the roof.. and the hi-lift across the hood is the 4Xrack for mount to TJ front bumpers.. it really doesnt get in my way generally.. thats where it goes because i had to get the 60" for only a few $$ more.. it makes for some real intersting looks/conversations at stop lights though.. i'm going to paint the jack black so i dont see it at all... 2" receivers front and rear..

thats the question of the week my friend!!! at the very least i will have the new DD on an RE 3.5" lift... rig plans have changed since i started the moab trip planning.. i am expecting a friend to have a 2-rig trailer so if i get a trail rig together it will get a ride out there... the plan is "evolving" on a daily basis... i got 3 months to get a new trail rig and lift it... if it werent for the last minute.. i'd never have time to get anything done... :repair:

Axles and drive shafts are all stock.. .3.55's. They are 34's but measure at 33.6 new, so they arent a true 34". I will change gears when I dump the D35, and get newer shafts for the front.. so far I cant say that the 3.55's feel all that bad, I figure when I get 4.88's or so, it will be apparent how much they suck. I may have some vibes in the driveline, but its hard to notice with bias-ply swampers...

How much lift is that?

~3". Right now the front is sitting low. I just got a set of 4" Terraflex coils for the front. ASA I get a set of Adj LCA's i'll bring the front up a little more. The rear bumpstops are set to stop compression before the springs over compress. I have to finish trimming the rear wheel openings. Once that's done, I'll remount the stock flares.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that geocities does not allow pictures hosted on their site to be used on other web pages? If that makes any sense. That would also explain why your other post in this picture area is full of red X's.

Last of the AMC Jeep, BC's 1988 XJ Cherokee is a fine specimen of a stock rebuild! Nothing but the best parts have been added to this project. 4.0L I6 cyl 5 speed, D35 rear with PowerTrax. Rolling on Yokohama Geolander A/T's on stock Jeep turbine rims. Custom rear rock bumper with 2 D clevices and dual 55 watt halogen reverse lighting. 2 sets of of Hella 500 lights for those midnight crawls, 1 set of 130 watt driving beams and 1 set of 100 watt fog lamps. A rock'n Pioneer Mp3 sound system fills this stocker with great tunes. Future plans include a long-arm lift or coil-over 4 link kit with some narly 35's for the outback, 4.7L stroker kit, transmission and transfer case upgrades and much more. I was waiting for my membership to kick in so I could throw the details in my sig, but that is the 8" Rock Krawler and 35x12.5 MT/Rs on a 94 sport. I put the bushwackers on, and peeled the red and black trim off, so it truly is the stealth bomber now.

The steel rims are loaners, I'm going with Ultra Type50s, but they won't be in until next week.

Bought this on Ebay not running for just under $600. Bad CPS was the only problem. I have since added:

Dodge Dakota rear leaves plus my stock main leaf
Rear Rock Krawler shackle
RE 8 degree shim for the rear
Rock Krawler front 4.5" springs
JKS front/rear BPE (bought on Ebay. $30 for all four)
Autozone Gabriel shocks all the way around
Skyjacker SS Brake hose for the front (I believe from the YJ)
Kevins JKS Trackbar conversion
That's it for now. Have some custom Rockrails waiting to go on and looking for front recovery. Untill I can get the Rigidco front bumper.

Thanks! It's a 97 that we bought this past November. So far my 12 year old son, 9 year old daughter, and myself have installed a 3.5" RE Softride lift along with 1" shackles and a 3/4" coil spacer. Tires are 32x11.50x15 BFG MT's on Eagle Alloy Series 57 wheels with a 3.25 backspacing. The rear bumper is from Off-Road technologies (now out of business), the tire carrier and front bumper are homemade. The winch is a Ramsey 9k. 4.10's and Powertrax no-slip lockers front and rear are next, just need to make the time to put them in. My wife really wants me to build a stroker for it, so I'm gonna start collecting parts for that too. GAWD I LOVE THAT WOMAN!!

BARON, I drove mine stock back on logging roads and also went to an off-road park (Rausch Creek) stock. I was the only one stock there but I made it and I learned alot. I learned what I REALLY need and what I can do without (until I can afford it). I just now lifted mine 3". I havent even got my new tires on yet and I want to lift to 4" already!!! I haven't even got it aligned or gone offroad yet! I have heard about this "inchitis" problem but never thought I would get it! Good lUck man and have fun!http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y166/theschwarz1/DSCF1907.jpg

Thanks guys. Ive definetely been having lots of fun driving around on these old roads. I never before realized how capable the Cherokee is in stock form. I personally am ready to start building but it will likely be another year before I start as I'll want to regear and do the SYE which adds alot of cost to lift and tires. Later...

Nice. I like the hood modification. I was thinking about doing something like that, or la barron vents, to help get some cool air in there... maybe this summer.
