How bad is it to run axles that have slightly different ratios, such as 4.55 in the back and 4.56 in the front, or 4.10 in the back and 4.11 in the front?
I have an isuzu axle that has frustrating axle options, only 4.77:1, 4.55:1, 4.3:1 and 4.1:1 from the factory and 5.38 aftermarket.
help!?

those are essentially the same and you wouldnt have a problem

100% agree with everyone else.

when i was looking for 4.88 for my dana 44 they had them listed as 4.88/4.89 as long as they are right next to each other i dont see any problem.

Specifically you can run a .07 difference. a good example is a 9" rear and a D44 front on 38" tires. the D44 is available in 5.13, 5.38 and 5.89.
the 9" is available in 5.00, .11, .13, .25, .33, .43, .50... to name a few.
with a 5.38 in the D44 you could either go with a 5.33 in the rear or and have the rear push the front around or you could go 5.43 rear and have the front kinda pull. works really well.

In the OLD days, 4x4's routinely used a slightly taller gear in the front straight from the factory. It was said to improve steering.

I think I read about it on Randy's ring & pinion. They say that anything less than 1% in ratios is equivelant to a 1/3" in tire diameter or uneven tire pressure etc. . . http://www.ring-pinion.com/content/technicalhelp/default.asp?pid=111
