Bigger Shafts and Joints... I think?

Alright heres the deal. Ive got a dana 30 out of a 90 cherokee with the smaller shafts and u-Joints. A friend sold me his set complete both sides inner and outer with Joints for $40 and he says he thinks there the bigger ones. There out of a 96 cherokee,and I know that was the transition year for most of the new stuff. His was a later model so its closer to a 96 and a half i guess you could say. Is there any numbers stamped on the shafts and joints that i could tell the difference, or do you think being a later model 96, they are the bigger ones?

just compare the two. all that will be bigger are the joints, the shafts are the same. you can measure the u-joints also but i dont know what the size is, someone probably will say, or a quick search might show it

the earlier shafts are 1 1/16th inch and the larger are 1 3/16th inch. When you measure them you'll know.

260 joint- 1.06 cap diam 297 joint-1.18 cap diam.

The 5-760x joint is a direct replacement for the 5-297x's. also, from what i understand, the 297's aren't even in production, which is why the '04 Rubi's use the 5-760x's.

The 5-760x isn't really made to be any stronger, just more durable overall.
