I had a great time out at Lake Gallagher/Fortune Creek/Van Epps trail area in Cle Elum. Great scenery, quiet camping, and easy to moderate wheeling for me (3.5" RE, 31x10.5 TrXus, open diffs). I know its not west of the mountains, but its not a bad drive from Seattle.
