so i have to get it tested. '88 xj 4.0L

my idle has been high lately. its fine until it warms up then the idle is at 1500rpm. will this cause me to not pass?

In Washington state you would fail because the idle RPM is above their allowed maximum. You may or may not have that requirement where you live.
