Ignition switch rod

I have a 99 Cherokee 4.0L and the rod that turns the ignition switch has broken. The rod i am talking about is connected to the key cylinder and sticks into the switch so that when you turn the key, the rod in turn turns the switch. Does anyone know if i can just purchase a new rod, or just that part of the steering column, or do i have to replace the whole steering column?

I know that the "Help" racks in some parts stores have the similar parts for the Saginaw steering columns, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do for Chrysler as well. I'd check an auto parts store first.

They dropped the GM (Saginaw) when they put in airbags in 95.
