Dana 35 and C8.25 gears swappable?

Someone told me a while back that I could swap the ring and pinion gears from a C8.25 into a Dana 35.

I have a 96 27 spline, 8.25 with 4.10's in it. I'd like to swap them into my non c clip 88 Dana 35 that is running 3.55's Then buy 4.10s for the front. Can I do that??

keep the 8.25

Find whoever told you that and smack 'em. Keep the C8.25; the 29-spline would be more preferred but the 27 is still better than a D35.
