Rust Chronicles

Thanks to everyone who replied to my last post.
I have posted pics of a rust repair I did earlier this year at:
http://photobucket.com/albums/v486/nfldXJ/
I will get some pics of the current repair up soon.

Repairs not photo documented include replacement of floors from the back
seat to the front firewall, replacement of front spring seat and shock bracket
and replacement of strut arm bracket on front axle.

I am not too concerned about motor vehicle inspections not liking my work.
Around here passenger vehicles only need inspection upon change of ownership.

I have a donor vehicle but the chassis sections I need are not in good shape.

Someone suggested using a weld through primer. I have Devcon Z, is that
the same thing? I don't like using it pre-weld as the fumes are nasty.

The comments about keeping the vehicle from twisting during repair are well
taken. I have been down that road already.

My plan is to find another XJ with less rust next year and retire this one.

Thanks again for all your advice

fred
