A WHILE back, with my old 87 Comanche with the aw4 behind the 2.5, we went through this. Deja vu! I have another 87 MJ with the 2.5, but this has the ax-5/np231 behind it. The ax-5 is getting tired. The clutch is new, but the bearing are getting cranky and letting me know about it. If I'm nice, I'll get some more time out of her. What I'm wondering, I have an opportunity to get an ax-15/np231 cheaply, will this bolt up, behind the 2.5? Is it a matter of just a bellhousing swap? Anyone have any experience or knowledge of this? Anything would be appreciated.
