I found a 79 wagoneer in the junkyard today with an offset dana 44. It's a 3.54 open diff with a 6 lug bolt pattern. Is this even worth picking up for an XJ? It had the front axle too, but I didn't look at it real close. Just noticed it was a driverside drop. Is it worth $100 for each axle? I found an 8 3/4 that's 62" wide out of a chrysler that I'm thinking of putting under my XJ. I'm wondering if the D44 would be better. Thanks.

I would pass on it. you will need new wheels and muffler bearings if you get those. also, the drivers side drop front isn't compatible with the XJ IFS.
