Cardan Question...

I've got to replace all the crosses under my 89, and I don't remember whether the centreing kit in the double Cardan joint in the front driveshaft needs replacing, or is it a non-wear part that can be reused? Or did they do away with that on the XJ in the first place? Anyone know offhand?

They can and do wear out. I had to get a new one when I had my DS rebuilt last December. Thanks to some guys on this forum, I just got done greasing the hell out of it. Mine was dry, and locating the squeak was driving me nuts. IIRC, the part is about $50. Might as well do it while you can, unless the one you have is in good shape.
