Water dripping sound but no overheating

Bought a used 98 XJ 4.0 automatic last spring. Popped the hood after driving home from work today just because and noticed a dripping sound that weakened in intensity but lasted for about 45 seconds. Sounded like it was coming from inside the block, but I'm not certain. No visible leaks, overflow bottle at full mark, and my temp gauge read 210 like it normal. Was too hot to pop radiator cap to check level. Any ideas on the sound and is it normal?

It could be oil rather than water dripping, as the oil dribbles down from the valve cover back to the sump.
