i have a 1999 cherokee sport 4dr

i am looking to get a Tom Wood's sye with my 4.5' RE lift

what kit would i need to get? the 231 transfer case kit?

It just depends on what you want. I have 1999 Limited that had a 242 in it. I swapped that out with a JB Conversion 231HD (slip yoke eliminator already installed) and I measured and spoke to Tom Woods directly. He is awesome and will help right through it. He will be able to explain how to measure with the factory slip yoke installed and get the proper length of driveshaft for after the conversion. I got the upgraded model driveshaft with the rubber boots on them and they are great. I have had no problems with them. I know that will be the last thing that breaks on my XJ. Just give them a call and they can help you decide right there on the phone.
