249 tcase bind when turning ?

I have 2 xj's and a zj. The zj is a 98 with a 249 that i think is binding up. I have a 91 with a good 231 behind an ax15 that I was thinking of putting an Atlas tcase in. So, would there be a way of swopping the 231 into the zj. Or, duzz anyone know what might be wrong with the 249 and the fix.

the only thing you would have to watch out for is the input spline count on the 231 compared to the 249, I believe the earlier t/c were 21 spline and the late models are 23 spline. But if the splines match, it should be a bolt-in, bolt-out matter.
