231 t-case questions

Got a 231 for my buddies jeep today at the junk yard. It's out of an '87 Cherokee and was bolted up to an auto trans. His '90 commanche is a 5 spd, AX5 I belive. Will this work? Will he have to change shafts on his t-case or transmission? We also picked up a Dana 30 with 3.73 gears and a front drive shaft for 200 bucks at the pick and pull. It was 50% off day, sweet. Thanks.

assuming the stirrup gears are still functioning, you can just swap the two assemblies
