Hurricane Charley = floods = no voltage

Hey, we have a bit of flooding down here in Florida thanks to hurricane Charley, and now I have no voltage. I'm assuming my alternator finally just gave up, but I don't know. It seems to be running fine. The voltage is stuck on 9v. It's a 99 sport. It was only about a foot or so of water, and I've been in hood deep stuff before with no problems. Anyway, is this common, or possibly just the gauge, or should I replace the alternator?

Thanks.

The right way is to load test the alt with a commercial battery tester - try Checker. The backyard way is pull the negative cable while the engine is running - if it keeps running, then the alt is working.
