Tranny fluid line routing

Can anyone tell me which transmission fluid line is the supply line and which is the return line? I have a transmission cooler that I want to install on my 89 xj but I want to route the lines so that the fluid passes through the cooler first and then through the radiator. Or can I bypass the radiator completely?

Any help appreciated!

from what i understand, looking at the radiator, the upper is the feed line and the lower one (under the radiator hose) is the return line.

oh, also you can bypass it completely. some guys on here do that so as not to get the added heat of the radiator.

Hey, thanks for the info Ludakris- are there any drawbacks to bypassing the radiator? It seems to me that it would be better for both the cooling system and the tranny, but I've been wrong before :O) Also- should I cap the tranny fluid inlets at the radiator?
