t case questions

does anybody know if the parts in a 242 are the same as the 231. Specifically the range hub and shift fork, the planetary gears.

I'm no expert on the 242 but from what I have heard most parts are not the same. I wouldn't risk trying to swap parts. If you are looking to go cheap you would be better off getting a 231 from a you-pullit yard. The 231 was used on lots of other 4x4s beside jeeps and are easy to find. Anyone know for sure?
