Last 2 nuts on Driver side for Xfercase removal

Well I got everything else apart except I cant figure out how to get the 2 nuts on the driver's side of the case off. THese are the ones inside the 4x4 shift bracket. Tried a socket but the hole isnt big enough, tried a box but it wont get far enough down b/c of the lip from the bracket...is there something I"m missing here...any tips to make my life easier would be greatly appreicated...this is a 96 country with a 242....

On the earlier models you have to use a deep socket and a long extension to get to those bolts.

in some of the tight spaces i use the closed end of the box wrench or a 9/16th universal socket with an extension
