Like others my steering got difficult. so I changed the pump. No help. Next I changed the gear. No help. Finally I stumbled across the answer!!! The shaft that connects the column to the box has two ujoints on it. They are sealed and can't be lubed but they were all bound up and wouldn't turn properly. THAT WASTHE PROBLEM, NOT THE PUMP AND GEAR. A local tech said to heat the joints with a torch- get them good and warm NOT red and then quench them in oil. I did it, then worked the joints for a minute and they loosened right up. Installed the shaft and voila!!!! All is well. Now I have a pump and gear for sale that I didn't need in the first place (need one, check the for sale forum)
