Dear Interested Party,

The Inyo National Forest is embarking on a Route Inventory Designation
(RID) Project. This effort is being undertaken by all National Forests in
the Pacific Southwest Region 5 at the direction of Regional Forester Jack
Blackwell. We would like to bring members of the community together and
present the Inyo National Forest strategy for route inventory and the
designation of all forest roads and trails open to OHV use. To make this
process a success, we need your help and participation.

The RID process will be completed by the year 2008 in Region 5, and has the
support of the California State Park Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) Division and
Commission through a Memorandum of Intent. We will be holding a public
meeting on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at 6:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual
Help Catholic Church at 849 Home Street in Bishop. This meeting will be
the first in a series of public meetings on the RID process, and the first
opportunity for public participation. As a user of the Inyo National
Forest you are encouraged to attend to learn how we will proceed, the next
steps and timeframes to accomplish the route inventory, and how you can be
involved.

We hope that you will be able to attend the meeting, participate in the
process, and provide feedback to our staff. For more information, please
contact Colleen (Chaz) O'Brien, Forest Recreation Planner, Inyo National
Forest at [email protected]. If you would like to continue to receive
mailings on this project please contact Jan Cutts at [email protected] or at
351 Pacu Lane, Suite 200, Bishop, CA. 93514.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey E. Bailey
