How long does it take to do Barrett one way. I'm trying to figure out my plans for the 22nd and if it isn't too bad I will try and drive home.

Also it looks like there is a big motorcyle event the weekend of the 20th and Icehouse is booked. I'm going to be for a lashing if I don't have someplace with showers for the wife after the Rubicon stretch. Is there anything semi close to the Barrett trail head to stay. South Tahoe maybe?

Right now I think were planning on borrowing a double car trailer and leaving it in Reno then driving from there or maybe parking it at one of the Casino's. If it's too much trouble I'll bring the camper, leave it in Truckee for Fordyce and figure something out for the rest of the trip. Idea's?

Barrett is a half day trail if the group size isn't too large and there aren't any major breaks. Hinkley, Paul S and one other person drove out in two hours once, but that was pretty quick. It depends on when the group leaves the lake on Sunday morning.

You don't go past Icehouse when going to Barrett Lake from the end of the Rubicon, although you could. Rubicon ends on the west side of Lake Tahoe, and you go through South Lake to get back to Barrett. If you're going to do Fordyce, the best place to park a tow rig is at the Rubicon staging area on the Tahoe side, where we'll end up. If I tow, that's where I'll park, and it wouldn't be very far out of your way coming from the east before going to the start of Fordyce.

Thanks Richard. That's why I was thinking even parking in Reno. We have friends there and can just leave the tow rig (or rigs) there. Dad and I are talking about borrowing my uncles 5th wheel and just hauling both jeeps down on one trailer.

How far of drive would it be from South Lake to the Barrett trail head? Kristen and I are talking about just skipping Barrett this time and wasting a few days before going home. Camping isn't a big deal to her but a weeks worth will be pushing it. I can always take a long weekend and hit Barrett another time, it's only about 8 hours from home.

I guess this means I better get my crap together. :D

Crap, it only looks like 30 miles or so. Dangit, now I have to think, and it hurts when I think.

There may be something around Strawberry or Strawberry Tract. Anyone?

Yes, there are places in Strawberry, but why not stay in South Lake, take in a show featuring scantily clad dancers, high grade spirits, and the chance to lose some money?

Now that you put it that way a two hour dive in the morning to run Barrett doesn't sound that bad. Kristen said if they aren't nekid it isn't worth the time. :D

We probably won't decide until we're there. See how the week goes and then decide if everyone's up for another. With my luck my crap will be all broken up anyway.

Looks like the double trailer isn't going to work anyway. So I'll go ahead an load the camper since I'll have to bring the pickup anyway. I'll probably use Richards suggestion and park it to end up there after the Rubicon.

Got some figuring out to do.

Don't think too hard and hurt yourself......

It might be too late. I think I have boiled all my brains out on previous thinking sessions and now I just keep getting dumber. :looney:

I'm just working on my high steering right now. Any suggestions on how far out from the ball joint the drag link hole should be? I'm getting that crap built next week.

Well, to keep the same turning as stock, to match the throw of your current pitman arm, you can start by using the same distance as your stock knuckles.

:D

I don't think I still have the stock crap laying around. Sounds like too much geometry to me. Do you think I could use some duct tape to hold the drag link for testing? :D
