newer H.O. intake on a non-H.O.

You need to raise the HO intake by elongating the dowel pin holes by about 5/16", then modify the TPS to work with the HO t-body, vacumn lines, Throttle cable, etc.
As an alternative; the Renix manifold may be tapped to fit the HO t-body 4 bolts as there is only about 1" difference in the runner legnth. This can be done on the vehicle by stuffing a rag in the manifold and vacuming after tapping before removing the rag.

You'd have an easier time swapping the entire head package, and you'd get more benefit from that anyhow. The reason the HO manifold runners are higher than the Renix is due to modification of the intake ports in the head proper - the angle from the intake plane to the intake valve was reduced to increase airflow into the head proper. Apart from that, there isn't much reason to put the later intake on the early block and head.

I'd seriously consider the head package swap, especially if you can find a donor 99-01 head package (head, intake, exhaust.) Most of the stuff willl bolt right over, excecpt for the mods to accept the Renix tbody, or mods to the HO tbody to accept Renix electronics. The OEMR Renix tbody would probably be easier to retain without mods, and should be less work.
