Sanden Rotorary A/C Compressor

The compressor on my 90 4.0 is starting to make a little bit of a "rrrrrrrrrrrr" sound when I run the A/C. Has anyone had bad luck with the reman compressors? Or is it a good Idea to invest in a new one?

Sandens are the quiet compressors, correct? My '91 is a bit louder than any other a/c unit I have heard. I don't know if I would want to invest in a remanufactured one. What compressor is in the TJ's? Those are pretty quiet.

I got a new one from here for my '90:

AAPAK

New Sanden was about 230.00. Great customer service. Stay away from the rebuilds from the likes of Autozone, Checker and such. The a/c forums I researched with all agreed that the small price you pay for a rebuild from one of these places isn't worth it.

so are these Sanden compressors quieter than OEM?

Hard to say. The OEM compressor for my '90 is a Sanden and was replaced with a Sanden. Sounds the same.
