No One offers an SYE for an NP 242?

Alot of people use the RE SYE and they've said that it really isn't too complicated to put on. Actually come to think of it, every 97+ XJ with an SYE that I've seen has been the hack and tap.

MIT used to make a 242 SYE - I've had their kit on my XJ for 5 years.

I'd do the hack 'n tap for the 242, especially if it is a '97+ XJ, because then I thimk you don't even need any t-case housing mods (so the kit should be cheaper). There's nothing you can do strengthwise for the 242, so why go through the pain of dropping and splitting the case only to install a mainshaft that is basically identical to the finished product of the RE kit?

I know Tom Wood doesn't like the hack 'n tap, but I've never heard of one failing. This is a two beer job with basic tools. Do it.

you have four choices:

1. get a 231 + HD sye for whatever $$$

2. put any one of the various hack+tap SYE's on it

3. machine your own HD SYE for the 242 and mass produce it

4. atlas
