control arm length

I just installed a Rustys 3 inch on my 2000 limited. I had put R.E. adjustable control arms on a few months ago and they are still at O.E.M. length, any suggestions on proper length for both uppers and lowers for the new springs. It does have a serious death wobble right now but I ordered a pitman arm and adjustable trac bar from Off Road Outfitters and hopefully with these and an alignment it will drive like it should.

Did you get an alignment before you purchased those other things? You don't need a drop pitman arm for a 3" lift. An adjustable trackbar will help, but is not 100% necessary for a 3" lift. If you did not get an alignment after your lift was put on, then that could be your biggest problem. Whoever told you you needed a drop pitman arm is smoking crack. Stock length control arms are fine for 3", although if you had adjustable uppers, you could fine tune your castor.

pitman arm will just add bump-steer into the mix. it will decrease the angle of the draglink without doing anything to the angle of the trackbar, when they should be parallel.

Here's a table of CA lengths depending on the amount of lift you have:

Lift......................LCA............./............UCA
********Decimal**Fraction**Decimal**Fraction
Stock........15.75.......15 ¾........15.00.......15
2”.............15.92.......16............14.88.......15
3”.............16.09.......16............14.92.......15
4”.............16.33.......16 3/8......15.03.......15
4.5”..........16.47.......16 ½........15.11.......15
5”.............16.62.......16 5/8......15.21.......15 ¼
6”.............16.97.......17............15.44.......15 ½
7”.............17.36.......17 3/8......15.74.......15 ¾
8”.............17.81.......17 ¾........16.09.......16
9”.............18.30.......18 ¼........16.50.......16 ½
10”...........18.82.......18 ¾........16.96.......17
