need np 231 advise

ok i got a problem w/ my x-fer case. i installed the sye w/a woody. when i put the junk in 4lo it wants to pop out if i can even get in to pop in 4lo. i was told it probably is the mode hub in backwards.

well yesterday i tore it apart and there is no way to put the hub in backwards because you couldnt get the snap ring in that way. so that i had that in right. also i measured the shift rail and it is a 1".

so is there anything else i can check out because i am at a lost and tired of tearing this junk apart?

One CAN put the shift collar on backwards. I did it. Check to see if the collar that slides on the mode hub is on the right way. Jeff

I think it's called the mode sleeve and if it's backwards you will have the problems you have now. Remember that the long side of the sleeve is oriented toward the long side of the shift fork rail. Been there done that. Easy to correct with the rear case half removed.
