well i lined up someone to rebuild my engine for 300 so now its on to buying a master engine kit. IM lookin at spending around 1000 total on this project so the most i can spend really on a kit is 700. I saw a kit a guy from maddog racing that is a buy it now sellin for a little over 500 on EBAY. Is there somewhere else i should go for a kit with a few more performance options or just a better price. And someone told me they saw a stroker kit on the internet for 600. BAsically has anyone seen good prices on the internet for rebuild kits? thank

You won't find a stroker kit for that money but you can get a rebuild kit for about $400. Here's some examples:

http://www.flatlanderracing.com/rebuildkitsamc.html
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33620&item=2463504582

You could throw in a Crane CRN-753905 cam with Crane CRN-99278-12 lifters for a further $179 from Summit Racing.
Mill 0.010" from the block deck, 0.010" from the head surface, and use a Mopar Performance 4529242 head gasket to raise the CR and gain maximum benefit from the Crane cam.
If you want to build a stroker on the cheap, follow my progress with the 4.6 stroker that I'm putting together:

Mine will cost less than $1500 in parts and machining but that's because I already have 24lb injectors, 62mm TB, header, homebrew MAP adjuster, and other performance goodies on my existing 4.0 which will be reused on the stroker.

Sorry to bring this thread back up, but I just checked out the flatlander kit for my 99 XJ and it is a bunch more $$ than the previous years, whats up with that? I am assuming they can't sell you a cam because of OBDII and the more stict emmisions requirements, but what about the block makes it so much more $$?
