why do my revs drop when I tap the brake

when i coast down hills my revs will stay up at about two thousand rpm but if I tap the brake they drop off to about 1200. Why is this?

the only thing i can think of is tc lockup releasing when you touch the brake

The '90 has a T/C lockup switch mouted to the brake pedal assembelly bracket. When the brake is depressed the T/C unlocks. If it was out of adjustment the T/C would never lock.
