i seem to recall 1.17", 27 spline, same as a D30

so you're saying that the rear output on the 231 is the same diameter and spline count as the d30 pinion yoke?

if so, on the newer sealed output 231's, couldn't you just hack the output shaft shorter, use a d30 pinion yoke, and then tap the output shaft and bolt it on? it would be just like a RE hack-n-tap except it would accept a 1310 and not have that flat flange. and it would only cost $40.

anyone know for sure if the two are the same diameter and spline count?????

axle shaft! guess my idea won't work now. i figured there was some catch. otherwise it would probably have already been done.
