I want to know what happened to me tonite. I was in an automatic carwash when the 'check gages' lite comes on. The volt gage was all the way to the left, showed was not charging. I wiated 2 or so minutes and the gage went to showing a voltage of 13-14 volts (normal for mine)----didn't hear the belt slipping or any thing like that and engine ran fine.

I have a 1999 4.0 A/T with 60,000 miles , red top Optima----lifted 5 " with 31's if any of that might matter.

Thanks for any and all help,
Dave

The belt is cracked and worn, and/or loose, and is slipping when wet.
Used to happen to me all the time until I changed it.
They last about 80,000.
Hasta.
