Best metric oil filter

read this article for oil filters: http://www.minimopar.net/oilfilterstudy.html

then read synthetic oils: http://www.getahelmet.com/tech/syntheticoil.htm

decide for yourself on what to buy

for myself, I use: Mobil One synthetic 10w-30 and Mobol1 301 Filter, it is larger capacity.

1 case of 6 of 10W 30 Mobil One oil: 23.98
1 Mobil One 301 Filter: 11.00
(I also use Purolater One, usually at 5 bux)

so about 34 bux, same as regular oil change at a quicky lube place, but I know my engine is happy

BTW, I plan to change my oil and filter at 5,000 miles.

I like Wix (Dana's brand), which "Parts Master" auto parts stores sell. I also had good luck on the old Metric 87 with Bosch and K&N, both of which gave a little higher oil pressure reading than the generic ones.

At some point a few years ago I took a saw to the contents of my used filter bucket in the barn, and found that the Bosch and K&N both had more pleats and stiffer material than the cheap ones.
