MAT sensor relocation.

I have seen posts on other tech forums for non jeep rigs where they move the manifold air temperature sensor from the manifold to the air intake tube. This mod keeps the sensor cooler and gives a slightly richer fuel mixture. The mod also keeps the sensor from overheating when the engine idles for a long time. Has anyone tried this on a jeep 4.0 ? and if so what were the results ?

I did that mod two years ago when I still had my insulated ram airbox with drop-in K&N. Here's my write-up:

Thanks for the info. I am using a newer 99 TJ intake manifold so moving the sensor to the air intake tube will help solve an issue with the positions of vaccuum connections on the manifold.
